Morehead Turtle Walk

Statement

I was chosen for phase two of the Morehead Turtle walk! My turtle is heavily inspired by the concept of turtle islands, or islands on the back of giant turtles in myth and folklore.

I really wanted to make a mossy, lichen-y with the shell and sculpt various mushrooms on the shell and head. I also sculpted vines and moss covering and hanging off the turtle to give the feeling that this turtle has not moved in so long, or doesn't move very fast, and has plants and lichen growing and spilling off the sides of its shell.

I want to thank Kelly and everyone at the Citizen's Bank for both sponsoring the turtle and for all your support. Kelly and her coworkers are wonderful and were very excited to see the turtle in person, making all the work worth it.

You can visit  "Mushrooms, Lichens, Moss, Oh My!" (Unofficially called Frederick) in-person infront of the Citizen's Bank in Morehead Kentucky.
